Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my concern about the proposed reduction in opening hours at Hillside Public Library, and to suggest an alternative.
I am a regular user of the library and rely on it a great deal. As a part-time student without space to study at home, I visit almost every evening to use the quiet study area and to borrow reference books. I also bring my younger sister to the children's reading sessions at weekends.
If the library closes earlier on weekday evenings, as proposed, I will lose the only quiet place I have to prepare for my exams, and many other students and working residents will be affected in the same way.
Rather than cutting the hours, I would suggest exploring alternatives such as recruiting volunteers to help staff the library, or introducing a small charge for certain services to raise funds. I would be very willing to volunteer myself.
I hope the library will reconsider, and I look forward to your reply.
Yours faithfully, [Your name]
