Statistics involves collecting, organising and analysing data. Measures of central tendency give us a 'typical' value for a data set.

Mean (average): Add all values and divide by how many there are. The mean is sensitive to extreme values (outliers).

Median: The middle value when data is arranged in order. If there are two middle values, the median is their average. The median is not affected by extreme values.

Mode: The value that appears most often. A data set can have no mode, one mode, or multiple modes. Range = highest value โˆ’ lowest value (measures spread).
