What’s Happening?
According to Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, the Executive Director of IBCC, a major change is on the way. For years, students had to go through extra steps like equivalency processes or sealed envelopes to apply to universities overseas. But not anymore!
Now, the IBCC is working closely with the UK’s ECCTIS (the official body for recognizing foreign qualifications) and other international boards to get Pakistani intermediate certificates recognized directly.
This means that students will be able to apply to universities abroad without needing complicated verification or additional paperwork.
What Else Has Changed?
The IBCC has been busy making things easier for students and institutions:
No more sealed envelopes – They’ve eliminated the outdated requirement of sealed verification documents.
Online verification – All 29 Pakistani education and technical boards now offer online verification services.
Digital Equivalence System – You can now apply for certificate equivalence and attestation through a digital portal.
QR Code Certificates – Issued certificates now come with a QR code for easy online verification.
Religious credentials – Soon, online verification for religious seminary degrees will also be available.
A New and Improved IBCC
You might remember the IBCC as the “Inter-Boards Committee of Chairmen.” But in 2023, it was restructured through an Act of Parliament. Now, it has more authority and responsibility. It even regulates foreign qualifications in Pakistan using a 15-point criteria system and an online registration portal for international boards.
